Quality roofing shingles can be the perfect finishing touch on a roof restoration. Today, there are more shingle color and style options than ever before – so many, in fact, that the choice can seem a bit overwhelming. How does anyone know where to start? At Springtree Restoration, we prefer GAF roofing shingles. Here is an introductory guide to GAF’s shingles, their properties and styles to get you started.

GAF’s Affordable Shingles

If cost is your primary consideration, GAF offers the budget-friendly Royal Sovereign 3-tab shingles. These strip shingles are sturdy and easy to install. They’re also available in more than a dozen attractive colors. Royal Sovereign is a superior choice for straightforward, affordable shingles.

GAF’s Laminated Shingles

Laminated shingles, also called architectural shingles, are heavier and more resilient than regular asphalt shingles. They are comprised of several layers of refined asphalt and have a heavier base layer. Unlike the flat 3-tab shingles, laminated shingles have a pleasantly 3-dimensional look.

Timberline HD is the most commonly installed laminated shingle from GAF. It also comes in a heavier version called Timberline Ultra HD. Timberline American Harvest shingles have the same quality as HD with multiple color options to suit any home. Timberline Cool shingles look just as good as the HD and come with an Energy Star rating.

The GAF Armorshield 2 laminated shingles can save homeowners money because these shingles can qualify for insurance discounts. They are made from a proprietary blend of asphalts with rubber-like flexibility and extreme impact resistance.

GAF’s Designer Shingles

If curb appeal is a priority, designer shingles are what you want. These shingles are as aesthetically pleasing as they are tough.

Camelot 2 designer shingles are our personal favorites here at Springtree Restoration. They combine quality materials with weathered, artisan-crafted beauty. Products from the Monaco line are very nice tile replica shingles. The Sienna line, our founder’s absolute favorite, sports diamond-shaped tiles that lend elegance and old-world charm to roofing projects. The Grand Sequioa shingles have the look of slate or wood shakes, and the Grand Sequoia IR are some of the few Class 4 impact-resistant designer shingles available.

GAF’s Ridge Shingles

For the perfect finishing touch that is sure to match GAF’s shingle colors, we like the Z-Ridge and Seal a Ridge shingles. Z-ridge is a high-profile shingle that makes any roof look its best. We use this one a lot in our roof restorations! Seal a Ridge is a class 4 impact ridge shingle for optimum strength.

GAF’s Underlayments

Of course, shingles aren’t effective without a quality underlayment to back them up. GAF’s Storm Guard allows us to hold a 5-year workmanship warranty with confidence. Tiger Paw is a high-grade synthetic felt underlayment that is durable and resistant to wrinkling and buckling. Felt Buster is GAF’s standard synthetic felt option. It is an affordable option that holds up well against wind and rain.

GAF’s Warranties

Another reason why we prefer GAF is their confidence in their products. Springtree Restorations is proud to offer three tiers of warranties on our GAF projects:

  • Standard Lifetime. A 50-year warranty that becomes prorated after 10 years.
  • System Plus. A full 50-year, non-prorated warranty. Only Certified and Master Elite contractors can offer this warranty.
  • Golden Pledge. A full 50-year, non-prorated warranty plus 25-year workmanship guarantee backed by GAF. Only Master Elite contractors can offer this one.
