Today’s project highlight features a complete roof removal and replacement we did for Redeemer Presbyterian Church in McKinney, TX. There were some challenges along the way, but our team rose to the occasion and gave the church a beautiful new roof and gutter system.

Redeemer Presbyterian Church is a cherished part of the McKinney community. It began with an informal sunrise service on Easter morning in 1996. In September of the same year, services began at the Holiday Inn. By December, the congregation had purchased 12 acres of land on Custer Road, where they have been reaching out and building community ties ever since. 

Project Description

For this commercial project we had to remove and replace 310 sq. of shingles on a very large and steep roof. We removed all of the original shingles and replaced them with GAF Timberline HD shingles. All of the shingles we placed on the building were covered under a five-year workmanship warranty and a 50-year enhanced manufacture warranty.

In addition, we installed over 1000 feet of custom soldered guttering to protect the new shingles from water damage. The shingles should stay in good shape for many years to come.

One unique challenge we faced during this project was scheduling. We had to schedule the roofing portion of the project around the church’s services and meetings so that we did not disrupt anything. The project also required us to use a lift that necessitated the use of ground protection to prevent getting stuck or causing ruts on the church grounds.

The project took two weeks to complete. We had a project supervisor, quality control supervisor and more than 30 laborers on site in order to finish on time. The client was pleased with the results. 

Materials Used

For this project, we used GAF Timberline HD roofing shingles. These shingles have a proprietary color blend and shadowing effect that give them an enhanced 3-dimensional appearance. They have the highest roofing fire rating: UL Class A, Listed to ANSI/UL 790.
